Sonnyisnotsofunny drew away very impressively to an 8 3/4-length debut victory July 25 at Ellis Park to become the fifth winner from American Freedom's first crop of runners.

Arguably the most impressive debut of the five, Sonnyisnotsofunny was locked in a three-way battle for about three furlongs before asserting himself at the top of the stretch. He pulled away at will to win easily for jockey Martin Garcia and trainer Mike Maker.

The final time for the five furlongs was :58.17 on a fast track.

The winner is owned by Michael Dubb and Michael Caruso and was bred by Sally Thomas and New Dawn Stable, LLC. Sonnyisnotsofunny is out of the stakes-placed Never Quicker, whose siblings include graded winner Itty Bitty Pretty and multiple stakes winner Greeley's Conquest.
