Hush of a Storm rallied from well off the pace to win the $100,000 John Battaglia Memorial S. Friday evening at Turfway Park, earning the 3-year-old son of Creative Cause 10 Kentucky Derby (G1) qualifying points and also moving him into the top 20 of the Road to the Kentucky Derby leaderboard.

Well back in the 11-horse field in the early stages of the 1 1/16-mile contest, Hush of a Storm began to rally with about three furlongs to run. After passing horses on the rail, he swung four-wide into the stretch and under a well-handled ride, prevailed over Like the King by 1 1/2-lengths.

The winner is owned by the Joseph Morey, Jr. Revocable Trust. Friday's win was the bay colt's third straight win, all around two turns, after being uplaced in a debut sprint. Hush of a Storm has now earned $65,985. He was bred by Berkshire Stud.

Next up on the Kentucky Derby trail for Hush of a Storm at Turfway Park is the Jeff Ruby S. on March 27. The winner of the Jeff Ruby will earn 100 Kentucky Derby qualifying points.

Creative Cause, who is standing the 2021 season for $7,500, stands and nurses, will have his largest crop of 2-year-olds to date when the juvenile racing season begins this spring.
