Cairo Prince chalked up another impressive stakes winner Saturday at Gulfstream Park when the 2-year-old colt Eldon's Prince rolled to a six-length victory in the $75,000 Proud Man S. on the turf.

The gray/roan juvenile was making just his second lifetime start following a second-place finish in his Aug. 1 debut over the same course. Reserved in fourth through a half-mile in :48.56, Eldon's Prince made his move for the lead entering the far turn. He swept around the pacesetters at the top of the stretch, then drew off with authority in the final furlong.

The final time for the mile on the firm turf was 1:36.79.

“I know he was a maiden, but the race looked wide open.” jockey Edgard Zayas said. “I had a lot of hope for this horse first time out and I think he ran a huge race. He was a little green. I thought he would be a little sharper today. I’ve had really high hopes for him from the beginning.”

Eldon's Prince banked $45,570 in victory for Gentry Farms and trainer Saffie Joseph, Jr.

The winner was bred by William Graham and sold for $280,000 to Gentry at the 2021 OBS Spring 2-year-old sale in April.

Cairo Prince is currently second on the Fourth-Crop sire list with more than $3.9 million in progeny earnings.
