New and Improved became Cairo Prince's latest graded stakes winner in Saturday's $200,000 Sands Point S. (G2) at Belmont Park, using a brilliant turn of foot in the stretch to win the 1 1/8-mile turf affair for 3-year-old fillies by a half-length over Feel Glorious (GB).

A close fourth in Saratoga's Riskaverse S. on Aug. 22, New and Improved has won two of her three starts and earned $165,000 for Klaravich Stables, who purchased the filly for $320,000 out of the 2017 Keeneland September Yearling sale.

New and Improved, under Joel Rosario, was in no hurry out of the gate and was some 12 lengths from the lead after the half-mile, which went in :49.10. Rosario asked his mount for her run midway on the turn, and she accelerated quickly, coming four-wide into the stretch then rolling by the field and outrunning Feel Glorious to stop the timer in 1:48.44 on the firm turf.

New and Improved was bred in Kentucky by Sun Valley Farm. Out of the Giant's Causeway mare High Style, she is a half-sister to graded stakes-placed All Star Bub. High Style is out of Tout Charmant, a six-time graded stakes winner of over $1.7 million.

Cairo Prince has been at or near the top of the 2019 Second-Crop Sire list all year. He is tied for first by black type winners, with seven, and is third by winners, with 53, and progeny earnings, with more than $3.3 million.
