Royal Prince, a 3-year-old Cairo Prince colt, earned his third career stakes win in Wednesday's $150,000 Caesars S. at Indiana Grand.

The gray or roan colt, owned by Steve Landers Racing LLC, won both the Black Gold S. and Bayou City S. earlier this year, and is now 4-3-2 in 11 starts and has earned $306,190.

The Caesars, at a mile on the turf, evolved quickly into a two-horse race between Dyn O Mite and Royal Prince. The former had a clear early lead before Royal Prince came along side nearing the quarter-mile mark. The duo raced side-by-side the rest of the way, with Royal Prince earning the win after it was determined by the stewards that the rider of Dyn O Mite had struck Royal Prince with his whip.

Bred by Sandra Sexton and Silver Fern Farm, Royal Prince is out of the Mr. Sekiguchi mare Rose and Shine, who is also the dam of 2019 champion 2-year-old filly British Idiom and stakes winner Parade of Roses.

Cairo Prince is having an excellent year, currently ranked second on the Fourth-Crop Sire list by progeny earnings, at $4.5 million, as well as by winners (93) and stakes horses (10). He has a total of 59 lots in the upcoming Keeneland September Yearling sale, which runs Sept. 13-25.
