A two-year-old son of Summer Front sold for 85,000 gns ($112,000 US) at yesterday's Tattersalls' Ascot Breeze-Up Sale, the co-second-highest price of the auction. He was purchased by Richard Brown of Blandford Bloodstock on behalf of an unnamed client, and is expected to be trained by Richard Hughes. "In my mind he was as nice a colt as there is here," said Brown. "He did a very good breeze on ground he would've hated being American bred. He's got a lot of quality and moves very well."

His breeze (Hip 51) is available for viewing at http://db.tattersalls.ie/4DCGI/Sale/Live?site=ASC

The colt was consigned by Johnny Collins' Brown Island Stables, who purchased him privately following a $45,000 RNA result at Keeneland last September. "He's been a very uncomplicated horse and hasn't put a foot wrong since he came to us," said Collins. "All the good judges seemed to like him and liked his breeze, he's a horse with a great big action. I saw a lot of Summer Fronts at the yearling sales and loved them. I have another very good one going to Doncaster."

Bred by George E. Bates Trustee, the colt is out of the mare Iboughtheranyway, a Dixie Union daughter of G2 Alcibiades S. winner Westerly Breeze, and a half-sister to the stakes-placed Tizcano, and the Graded Stakes producer, Seattle Society.

By War Front out of the G1-producing mare, Rose Of Summer, Summer Front was an undefeated multiple stakes-winning two-year-old himself, who went on to four Graded wins and six Grade 1 placings while banking over $1 million for Waterford Stable and Christophe Clement. He is represented by 98 registered first crop juveniles for 2019 and has already produced six-figure sellers at Fasig-Tipton Florida, OBS March and now at Tattersalls.
