A $325,000 yearling purchase by John Ferguson for Godolphin, Canadian Frontier made six trips between the United States and Dubai from 2000 to 2003 before ever fully getting the chance to show his value. Once returned to the United States full time, he annihilated a good field in the GIII Bold Ruler Handicap at Belmont Park, going 6 furlongs in a sensational 1:08 4/5. He also won the $100,000 Teddy Drone Stakes in 1:09 when beating GI winner and young sire Wildcat Heir. He also eclipsed the great 1:09 barrier when winning the Longfellow Stakes at Monmouth Park in 1:08 4/5. Canadian Frontier finished his career winning 6 of his 13 lifetime starts.
PROGENY RACING: Despite never covering the large books of mares of many of his contemporaries, Canadian Frontier has produced impressive results from his limited opportunites. His 2nd crop, four-year-olds of 2011, numbered only 41 registered foals, but has already produced 4 stakes winners, including New York Grade 1 winner No Such Word and the brilliant Hilda's Passion, a multiple graded stakes winner and one of 2011's fastest horses in training. |
