$500,000 SIPHON OBS SELECT 2Y0 COLT WINS FIRST START ON KEENELAND OPENING DAY.

The flashy chestnut colt, SIPHON CITY, out of the Carson City mare, Carsona, sold on February 3rd at the OBS Select Sale in Florida for $500,000. He was purchased by Demi O’Byrne and is now owned by Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith and in training with Todd Pletcher.

He showed tremendous speed in his works at the sales and has taken it to his first start on opening day of Keeneland’s Spring Meet. Breaking from the outside post he immediately went to the front with Texas Brown and the two drew away from the rest of the field in a speed dual until SIPHON CITY pushed a nose in front at the wire. The third place colt was a full 14 lengths back.

Jockey, John Velazquez, indicated he thought the colt had more in the tank and connections say he is pointed next for the Three Chimneys Juvenile on Derby Day.
