Afternoon Charlie, a two year colt old by Afternoon Deelites, won convincingly at Lone Star on a warm Wednesday evening.
Leaving the gate with a slight bobble as the betting favorite, the bay youngster sprinted clear and drew off under Corey Lanerie to win by 7 lengths!
The final time for the 5 1/2 furlongs was 1:03.4. Afternoon Charlie was bred in Texas by Phillip Robertson, for whom he races, and is trained by Steven Asmussen.
Looks like he has a bright future!
