Another impressive debut winner for American Freedom

Top-five First-Crop sire American Freedom got his third winner Monday at Delaware Park when the 2-year-old filly Gorman surged to a half-length victory in a five-furlong maiden special weight race on the main track.

Despite going very wide on the turn and into the homestretch, Gorman was full of run in the final furlong and powered past a trio of foes to win by a half-length in :56.81 on a fast surface.

The winner is bred and owned by Dede McGeheee DVM. The dark bay is out of the Include mare How Nice, whoses half-sister House of Grace won the Jessamine S. and placed in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.

American Freedom has got off to an excellent start with a trio of maiden special weight winners, all winning first time out and at different racetracks. With a robust 38 2-year-olds sold so far at auction this year, his average price is nearly ten times his stud fee.
