STORMIN FEVER has two promising young colts break their maidens in style on July 8th.
Churchill Downs – $50,000 MSW, 7 furlongs
BRILLIANT SON – coming off a second place finish in his seasonal debut at Churchill on May 14th he was favorite here to break through. Brilliant Son broke from the six post and pushed ahead to lead at every call and streaked under the wire two lengths clear.
Hollywood Park – $47,200 MSW, 1 Mile Turf
SYDNEY AGAIN – failed to hit the board on 3 previous attempts on the dirt and was off at 7-1 here. The dark bay colt broke last of eight and trailed the pack some 13 lengths off the lead through 3/4 of a mile. Then it was something to watch as he started picking off horses in a wide move around the turn and flew on down the center of the lane supercharged, getting by the last rival to be up by 3/4 length at the wire.
