A stakes winner at Ellis Park in her fourth start and Grade 3 stakes placed at Arlington in September, KOTA moved to Churchill and placed in Pocohantas S. earlier this month. Trainer Bob Holthus’ confidence in this filly showed in the Golden Rod entry pitching her against superstars RUNWAY MODEL and IN THE GOLD. Kota raced far back early, maneuvered into position five wide at the eighth pole and closed on the leader to be second best at the wire.
