Millionaire and Multiple Graded Stakes Winner BADGE OF SILVER arrives at Airdrie.

Multiple Graded Stakes winner BADGE OF SILVER joins the stallion roster at Airdrie Stud.   Most recently Millionaire BADGE OF SILVER ran 2nd, on Thanksgiving weekend, to DISCREET CAT in the fastest ever Hill ‘n’ Dale Cigar Mile – 1:32.2!  Discreet Cat eclipsed the previous stakes record and trainer Saeed bin Suroor said “This is the best race he has ever run in his life.”

Racing in the colors of Ken and Sarah Ramsey throughout his career, the son of SILVER DEPUTY first burst onto the national racing scene when winning his first three starts by a combined 26 lengths, highlighted by a 10 length triumph in the G3 Risen Star Stakes.  As an early favorite for the Kentucky Derby, BADGE OF SILVER suffered an untimely injury as the 4-5 favorite in the Louisiana Derby and was forced to miss the rest of his sophomore campaign.  After re-emergence from injury, BADGE OF SILVER went on to capture three more graded stakes including the $500,000 G2 New Orleans Hcp as well as a 2nd place finish in the G1 Cigar Mile defeating PICO CENTRAL. BADGE OF SILVER finished a strong third in the G1 $2,000,000 Breeder’s Cup Mile, his first start in more than a 10 month layoff during 2006.

With a current record of 7 wins from 16 starts and earnings of $1,047,892 BADGE OF SILVER arrives at Airdrie on Monday, November 27th for breeder inspections.

Bret Jones said “We couldn’t be more excited, Badge of Silver has the prospect to be a top stallion.  He was a brilliant racehorse, fast and precocious enough to break his maiden by 9 lengths as an April 2YO at Keeneland going 4 1/2 furlongs in :51 and change but was also versatile enough to beat the best going a mile and an eighth.  And his recent display of such gritty determination to run within a head of Aragorn in the Breeders’ Cup Mile after a 10 month layoff speaks volumes.  Now add to that a very good looking well balanced and correct horse and we believe he has the makings of a top commercial and, most importantly, top producing sire.”

BADGE OF SILVER will stand for a fee of $15,000.
