Quick Decision now 2-for-2 for Jones & Jones

Quick Decision, a homebred daughter of Istan for Brereton C. Jones’ Airdrie Stud, won for the second time in as many starts yesterday at Oaklawn Park. She took the feature, a NW1X Allowance for three-year-old fillies running six furlongs in 1:10 1/5. Trained by Larry Jones, who has conditioned so many of the best runners to carry Brereton C. Jones’ orange and green silks, including G1 Kentucky Oaks winners, Proud Spell, Believe You Can and Lovely Maria, Quick Decision has displayed speed and determination in equal measure in her two lifetime starts. On her debut, she was pressed through swift fractions of 21:3 and 45:1 but dug in and was “gutty late” to prevail by a half-length. Yesterday, facing winners, she stalked the leader through a torrid half-mile in 44:3 before holding off favored Misty Blue through the stretch. She won by three-quarters of a length in the end with runner-up Misty Blue three lengths clear of Raggedy Annie, who closed from tenth to finish third.

Although Istan struggled to gain commercial favor as a stallion, he has proven time and again that commercial results do not always predict racetrack performance. Best known as the sire of Street Band, who won the 2019 G1 Cotillion S. for Owner/Breeder/Trainer, Larry Jones, Istan has also sired Graded winners like Istanford (G2), Albano (G3), Mr. Bowling (G3) among others.

Quick Decision’s dam, Tell Me Again, an unraced daughter of former Airdrie resident, Majesticperfection, is a half-sister to four Stakes Horses including Letgomyecho (G2) and Soundwave (SW), and to the dams of Graded Stakes horses such as J Boy’s Echo (G2), Western Smoke (G3), One Lucky Dane (G1pl) and Unbridled Outlaw (G3pl), etc.

No plans have been made for Quick Decision’s next start, but she has reportedly bounced out of her race in very good shape, and we look forward to seeing her back in action soon.
