Sharp score for Summer to Remember on Gulfstream turf

Top-10 First-Crop sire Summer Front got his 16th winner of the year on Dec. 11 when Summer to Remember turned in a very nice-looking maiden special weight win over the Gulfstream Park turf course.

The 2-year-old colt traded blows with Intentional Walk for the top spot nearly the entire one-mile trip before striding away powerfully in the final furlong to win by nearly two lengths.  The victory came in the bay colt’s second lifetime start. In his debut, Summer to Remember was second to Decorated Invader, who has gone on to win the Summer S. (G1) and run fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) after a difficult trip.

Summer to Remember is owned by Waterford Stable who purchased him as a weanling for $200,000 at the 2017 Keeneland November sale. Bred by Airdrie Stud’s Brereton C. Jones, Summer to Remember is out of Psychadelacized, who is a half-sister to Schuylerville S. (G2) winner Classic Elegance, and to El Fasto, herself the dam of Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner, Believe You Can, whose War Front colt sold for $2.9 million to Godolphin at Keeneland last September.

Among Summer Front’s winners this year are With Anticipation S. (G3) winner Fighting Seabee and $100,000 Chelsea Flower S. [L] winner, Speaktomeofsummer. Summer Front will stand the 2020 season at Airdrie Stud for $10,000, Stands and Nurses.
