Trainer Larry Jones has had great success with his talented Proud Citizen colt Mark Valeski over the last couple of years, highlighted by a win in the Grade 2 Peter Pan Stakes and the Grade 3 Mineshaft Stakes at Fair Grounds. Now, he’s hoping to duplicate, if not surpass, that success with Mark Valeski’s three-quarter brother Albano. A son of the underrated Istan, whose first-crop included top stakes horses Mr. Bowling and Atigun, this second-crop colt looks like a horse with a big future following his impressive score in Saturday’s Sugar Bowl Stakes at Fair Grounds. The win came on the heels of a good looking maiden special weight win over the same surface. Now being pointed for the Grade 3 Lecomte Stakes, this talented and versatile colt looks like he is indeed capable of following in his older brother’s rather large hoofprints.
