The details were as varied as you can get, but all three winners shared the same sire, You and I!!
An amazing performance by Harvard Avenue, in a 5 1/2 f Maiden race for two-year-olds at Emerald Downs, he stalked the pacesetters early on, then moved four wide to take command mid-stretch and draw off to win by 6 1/4 lengths. The dark bay gelding was making his first start; and looks to have a bright future!
Ocean Effect, in a 7 f Allowance race at Assiniboia Downs, pressed the pace setter, then retired her rival at the 8th pole and drew out for a 5 length victory. The 3yo dark bay filly was bred in Florida.
On the East Coast at Monmouth Park, Valenzo, a 3yo colt, won in a different fashion – wire to wire. The dark bay sprinted clear then drew away to win the 1 m 70 yard contest by 4 3/4 lengths.
You and I now has 44 wins from 25 winners in 2003 so far! Let’s see what he does the rest of the year!
